One of the best ways to get to know the town of Punta Mita is simply to stroll through it. There are many cute boutiques, shops, cafes and corners to take in.
You can start by strolling down Avenida las Redes, where you’ll find the city’s best boutiques and some great cafes. From here, you can follow the waterfront path to the harbor to cool off in the breeze while watching the local boats and fishermen.
Right next to the port you will find the main public beach of the city, Playa Punta Mita, where you can relax and have a delicious drink facing the sea. Here you can also opt for surf lessons.
Behind the main beach, there are many streets full of local activity, delicious restaurants and even a local market that opens every Saturday on Calle Emiliano Zapata.
TAKE AN EXCURSION TO THE MARIETAS ISLANDS
It won’t be long before someone offers you a tour of the Marietas Islands. In fact, this is one of the best things to do in the entire Puerto Vallarta area.
In fact, it makes a lot more sense to take this little tour from Punta Mita rather than from Puerto Vallarta. Visiting the UNESCO protected islands is a great way to spend time with the family!
VISIT KUPURI BEACH CLUB
Litibu Bay has the largest beach club in the area, with a restaurant built on several levels, long considered the main entertainment center of Punta Mita.

SURFING AT LA LANCHA BEACH

From downtown of Punta Mita you can get there by car in 5 to 7 minutes. You will arrive at the entrance to the famous WildMex surf shop and from there you will begin to walk the path that crosses the jungle and leads you directly to La Lancha.
There is not much shade on the beach, so make sure you use plenty of sunscreen. Walking this path will take you from 10 to 15 minutes to get to the beach.
Surfing at La Lancha is free unless you want to book a guided surf lesson for yourself or your friends/family.
RELAX ON ITS DIFFERENT BEACHES
There are several beaches where you can go and relax around Punta Mita. To start check out Playa Punta Mita (the most popular of all) and nearby the beaches of El Anclote and Playa Careyeros, which of course are very worthwhile visit.
Once there, you can rent a chair to relax or you can simply choose to spread your towel on the sand and fill up on vitamin D.
The public beach of Punta Mita is probably not the best beach in the Riviera Nayarit, but it has extremely white and fine sand, similar to what you’ll find in Tulum or Playa del Carmen.
FOR GOLF AND TENNIS LOVERS
If golf is your thing, Punta Mita offers 2 courses at “Golf Club House Punta Mita”. Designed by Jack Niklaus, this 12 hole course by the sea offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Banderas Bay (Bahía de Banderas). Or if you prefer tennis, you can make use of the full tennis court, with 10 lighted courts for night play and a small gym that offers free weights, cardio equipment and a personal trainer.
In addition, Punta Mita has almost 4 miles of running and walking trails, which are well shaded, making them ideal for running in hot and humid climates.
